The Princess Bride: The Official Game - App Review

The Princess Bride for iPhone and iPad is a reboot of the classic Hollywood movie by Rob Reiner. This app presents a set of mini games based on scenes from the film. It's fun, addictive and suitable for all ages.

No bs, Princess Bride is a super cool app that's a lot of fun to play. The app presents in portrait mode to deliver a cartoonish depiction of three famous moments in the film; the electric eels, scaling the cliff and the duel between Inigo Montoya and Wesley, the scene that introduces perhaps the film’s most famous line, “my name is Inigo Montoya, prepare to die.” The mini games are of the simple one finger, tilt function variety, and function exceedingly well. The climbing up the cliff is by far the funnest of the 3 games, dodging birds and falling rocks, collecting coins and all sorts of other fun stuff. Each game is introduced by showing pictures from the movie itself, which is cool.

The graphics look like animation cells for a big budget movie; very nice quality and polished look.  There’s plenty of cool visuals to enjoy. The animation is smooth and renders well, with lots of satisfying effects and visual triggers.  The sounds are a perfect complement and cap off the game nicely.  This is a quality presentation throughout and sure to be enjoyed by any fan of the film.

Princess Bride is a fitting compliment to this classic film.  It makes me want to watch it all over again.  How nice it would be if every worthy movie could come out with a compliment app to extend the experience.  Top quality app for sure.
